The Oslo Players present:

by Terry Pratchett
adapted to the stage by Stephen Briggs

See the Master of Comic Fantasy Performed in English!

Terry Pratchett’s Discworld-series has sold millions of copies across the entire world, and is especially popular due to its unique combination of crazy humour, piercing satire and references to well-known scenes from literature and film. Several of Pratchett’s novels have been dramatised, and now 'Wyrd Sisters' will be performed in Oslo in English. The title is a reference to Shakespeare’s 'Macbeth', and 'Wyrd Sisters' throws a comic light on 'Hamlet' and 'King Lear' as well.

When the king of Lancre is killed by the insane duke and his wife, three witches are forced to take a stand and attempt to find the kingdom’s rightful heir. We get slapstick and comedy by way of a reluctant demon, an overexcited ghost, a depressed fool, some poor players and plenty of cups of tea, and last but not least three witches: Granny Weatherwax (proud, powerful and highly respected), Nanny Ogg (who likes her dram and dirty songs), and Magrat Garlick (who loves amulets and cute bunnies).

Tiden Norsk Forlag, Pratchett’s Norwegian publisher, calls Pratchett the Douglas Adams of the fantasy genre. We agree whole-heartedly!

The Oslo Players is the English-speaking theatre group at the University of Oslo. The group was founded in 1990 and puts up around two productions a year. The play is being performed at M3, Mariadalsveien 3 (near the popular jazz club, 'Blå'), an up and coming scene for alternative theatre in Oslo.
